An engineer’s journey into indoor plants — and the launch of a new website.
A few years ago, I found myself asking questions that seemed surprisingly difficult to answer.
Why do some indoor plants stay healthy for years while others struggle after only a few weeks? Why do certain plants bloom indoors while many never produce a single flower? Which care advice can actually be trusted, and which is simply repeated from one website to another?
At the time, I had no idea those questions would eventually lead me to build an entire website.
My name is Md. Firozur Rahman, although most people simply call me Firoz. I live in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and professionally I work as a Senior Deputy Manager at an engineering company.
My journey didn’t begin as a gardener or a botanist.
It began in a very ordinary office.
Several years ago, I noticed that my manager loved indoor plants. They could be found almost everywhere—inside his office, meeting rooms, shared workspaces, hallways, and even around our own desks. They made the workplace feel more welcoming and alive.
Seeing those plants every day slowly changed the way I looked at them.
The more I observed them, the more curious I became.
I wanted to understand why some plants flourished while others didn’t. I wanted to know how light, water, humidity, soil, and environment influenced their growth. Most importantly, I wanted reliable answers instead of random opinions.
Like many people, I started with Google.
Then YouTube.
Then books.
Eventually I found myself reading scientific publications, university resources, horticultural references, experienced growers’ discussions, and practical case studies from around the world.
The more I learned, the more I realized that the biggest problem wasn’t the lack of information.
The problem was finding information that was organized, trustworthy, practical, and easy to understand.
Some articles were written for completely different climates.
Others offered generic advice without explaining why it worked.
Many simply repeated what hundreds of other websites had already published.
As someone who naturally enjoys research and problem-solving, I found that frustrating.
I wasn’t looking for more articles.
I was looking for better ones.
That realization is exactly why I’m excited to announce the launch of Fragrant Indoor Plants.
This website is my effort to organize years of learning, research, practical observations, and trusted resources into one place where readers can find clear, reliable, and well-structured information.
Every article follows one simple principle:
Research before opinion.
I don’t intend to publish content simply because a keyword is popular.
I want every guide to be carefully researched, easy to understand, practical to apply, and updated whenever better information becomes available.
Over time, you’ll find detailed guides, care articles, problem-solving resources, buying guides, product comparisons, and practical recommendations designed to help readers make informed decisions with confidence.
If you’re someone who enjoys learning, values trustworthy information, and prefers quality over quantity, I think you’ll feel at home here.
You can explore the website here:
If you enjoy what you find, I’d truly appreciate your feedback.
Thank you for reading, and I hope this is the beginning of a long journey of learning together.
